Frequently Asked Questions
What an engagement involves, how consultants and mentors are matched to a student, and what families can expect from the first conversation onwards.
Most families arrive with the same underlying question: what will change, and who will be accountable for it. These are the answers we give most often. Our services page carries the detail of each engagement, and how we work sets out the method behind them.
What we do
What does Crestoria Global do?
We help ambitious students work out what they intend to become, then build the route that takes them there. The early part of that is educational: which subjects, which institutions, which country. It carries through into career direction, and into the first working years, where a role either compounds into something or quietly does not. Families come to us for judgement on decisions that are hard to undo, and for access to people who have already done what a student is setting out to do. Our services page sets out how each engagement is structured.
Who do you work with?
Students with serious ambitions, and the families behind them. That covers school students planning several years out, undergraduates deciding what follows a degree, graduates turning one into a first appointment, and professionals early enough in a career to still shape it deliberately. Parents are part of the work as much as students are. In most families this is a shared decision, and we treat it as one.
How are you different from other consultancies?
We do not put a student through a process. We put them next to people who have already travelled the route they are considering. Our consultants have sat on the other side of the table, reading applications and interviewing candidates long before they advised anyone on how to face them. Behind them is a mentor network recruited for accomplishment rather than availability: former admissions officers, Ivy League alumni, and senior figures across medicine, law, engineering, finance, media and the sciences. What a student gains is proximity to a career they can actually learn from. We do not aim for average anywhere in this. Not in who we hire, not in who we recruit as mentors, not in what we put in front of a student, and not in what we expect of them.
Who does the work?
The Crestoria Global team manages each account, so a family is never waiting on one person’s diary. Our Advisory Board shapes how we advise across regions, and the mentor network supplies whatever specific expertise a student turns out to need. The matching is not settled at the outset. It clarifies as the student does. How those elements fit together is set out in how we work.
The engagement
What does an engagement involve?
A Signature Package runs as a standing relationship. Intake is handled personally, and from there the account sits with the Crestoria Global team, so no single person becomes the bottleneck. The substance of it is matching. Over the course of an engagement we introduce the student to the mentors best suited to where they are heading, which might be one or two people, or a wider group as their needs develop. Mentoring time can be extended where it is earning its keep, and students receive material from our library chosen for their situation. Nobody gets the general mailing. Standalone Solutions work differently: each takes a single question, answers it thoroughly, and concludes. Both are described in full on our services page.
How do you decide which mentors to introduce?
Matching is the part we think hardest about, and it is a judgement, not a lookup. We weigh where a student is heading, how far along that route they already stand, and which of our mentors has faced the same decisions closely enough for the experience to transfer. A mentor who is merely eminent is of limited use. The right one has stood where the student is standing. As ambitions sharpen, the matching moves with them.
How are your fees structured?
Each Signature Package carries one fee for the whole engagement. There is no hourly rate, and no figure that climbs as the work does. Standalone Solutions are priced individually. Current fees and inclusions for every option are published on our services page.
Is there a fee for the Discovery Call?
Yes. We charge for it because an hour you have paid for is an hour we owe you, and that changes what gets said in it. We can tell you a single programme would serve you better. We can tell you to look elsewhere entirely. Neither is a comfortable thing to say to someone you hope will become a client, which is precisely why the session is not free.
How is confidentiality handled?
Discretion is assumed rather than requested. We do not publish client names. We do not use a student’s outcome in our own marketing without explicit permission. We do not discuss one family’s circumstances with another. Where a mentor is introduced, they are briefed on what is relevant to the student and nothing beyond it.
What if we begin later than we should have?
The fee does not move with the calendar. Time does. Several years let us build a profile deliberately; a few months let us present the one that already exists, and present it well. A family arriving in a final year gets the same attention as one that arrived in Grade 7.
Judgement and outcomes
Do you guarantee admission?
No. Admission decisions rest with the institutions, and any promise to the contrary should be treated with suspicion. Our responsibility is the quality of the case placed in front of them, and telling a family candidly when an ambition is unrealistic while there is still time to act.
What if we disagree with your advice?
Then we will make the argument properly, and if you remain unconvinced the decision is yours. You are paying us for judgement. Agreement is not the same thing, and it is worth considerably less. What we will not do is soften a view because it is unwelcome, particularly while the window to change course is still open.
Which countries do you cover?
We start from the institutions worth attending, not from a map. Today that centres on the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, together with the leading universities of Europe and Asia. The more useful point is that our advisers and mentors sit inside those systems. Admissions behave differently from the inside than they appear from a distance, and a family should be advised by people who know the difference.
How do you support international applicants?
An admissions office reads an unfamiliar curriculum through assumptions it rarely states aloud. A formidable record in one system can be quietly discounted because the reader has no frame for it. Our work is to remove that disadvantage: to present a profile in terms the assessor already trusts, and to make sure a student’s home country operates as a starting point rather than a ceiling.
Do you help with scholarships and funding?
Yes. Funding guidance forms part of the Premium and Elite engagements, covering identification, positioning and application support. Merit awards carry weight well beyond their value, because they record how an institution rated a candidate against everyone else it considered. That is worth pursuing on its own terms, and worth pursuing early.
Beginning
When should we start?
Any point from Grade 7 onwards. Starting earlier does not reduce the fee. It gives us more to work with: the projects, the reading, the interests that in time become a profile worth presenting.
What happens first?
The Discovery Call. We look at where the student stands, what they are aiming at, and whether the distance between the two is one we can genuinely help close. If a full engagement is the right answer we will say so. If a single programme would serve you better, we will say that instead.
How do we begin?
Begin with a Discovery Call. If you would rather open a conversation first, write to us through the contact page. Every enquiry is read personally, and the more candidly you describe where the student stands and what worries you, the more useful our first reply will be.
Something we have not covered?
Write to us through the contact page. Every enquiry is read personally, and there is no expectation that you book anything first.
